Mother’s Day Fundraiser Experience
On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, I visited the Apsley and Bristal senior homes in NYC with 200 bouquets and cards in hand. What we brought was simple, but what we witnessed was incredibly powerful.
A few months ago, my friend Lauren and I came up with an idea to brighten seniors’ days by delivering flowers and heartfelt messages on Mother’s Day, especially for those who may not have anyone to celebrate with. Thanks to the generous support of our friends and family, we were able to make that vision a reality.
This experience was deeply meaningful for me. Many of the residents we met are living with Alzheimer’s disease. While they may not have remembered the exact reason for our visit, the emotions they felt in the moment were unmistakable- smiles, laughter, and many thank-yous. One woman told me that I made her day. I didn’t know something so gentle and simple could impact me that much. It meant so much to me that we could provide any sort of happiness for people around us who are suffering.
We hope to continue this initiative in the years to come, as it meant so much to both Lauren and me, as well as the seniors we met. The impact of that day taught us how powerful it is to simply show up with kindness, and I will never forget that lesson.
